Alex and Hawke Morgan started working on bicycles in about 1984, when Hawke was 14 and Alex was 11. We worked for our father, Don, who built funhouses for carnivals, and we learned various composite and metalworking skills. Previous to that we built spaceships from Lego's, and varoius other things like gliders, treehouses, hotcycle tracks, jumps, igloos, etc. BCD was registered as a business in TX in 1990. We actually started on a fiberglass prototype frame in 1985, but it was never finished. We built a ton of carbon seatposts between 1992 and 2000, mostly for roadies and triatheletes. They were distributed in Europe, Australia, and Japan. We supplied posts triathelete Eric Harr, the Plymouth/Domenics, Lombardi Sports, Team Ochsner/Hansiatic road teams, and a bunch of regional riders. Marty Nothstien was riding one of our early prototypes for a while in 1993. We are probably not going to build more in the future as everybody builds carbon posts now. Dave Salinas, Cody Paul, Doug Moser, and our dad worked building posts for a while. We have sponsored a BCD racing team from about 1994 though the present. Seth Harney (semi-proDH), Josh Prater (proDH), Johnny Bargeron (vetDH), and Jed Schneider (proXC/CX) rode for us at one time or another. Alex is still racing for BCD. Hawke now rides for Team KHS NM for road/CX/XC. |
