I'm just starting to prep my 1974 2002 for rally. I found the black one off ebay 2 years ago for like $250. it was a runner but not well. While driving it back the oil leak got worse and was dripping on the cranked mani fold that was already making the car super loud! Now it was smoking like crazy! With the licence plate and the flat black paint it made for a entertaining drive back. The car is a automatic. that is good b/c they have a larger trans tunnel for a future race trans. It doesn't have much rust and still has its original maroon paint. I plan on going red/white top and bottom. These are number 4&5 or BMW 2002/1602's i have owned. They are great cars and have a performance pedigree The white parts car was in craigs list for free! It turned out to be a 1602 so i can't use some parts but for free who cares. All the glass is good and it has only a few rust spots. It sat under a tree in NM for 20 years The motor i have is a 1988 325e super ETA with a larger 325i intake and manifold and 17.5lb injectors. I started stripping it and making room for the m20. The engine bay needed the front and back made larger for the straight six m20. I have pretty much stripped it all and am building a rotisery to seam weld it.
Here is a of some other 2002 gravel rallye cars. |
