Bosque Winter Cross
Sunday 1-8-12 2:30PM, group preride at 2:15PM
All categories start together, and go for about an hour.
Entry $15. Kids/juniors 18 and under are free, whether they have a license or not. Note that this is officially a cyclocross practice clinic and not an official race. We just ride around as fast as we can for an hour, no prizes, no scoring. Course may not conform to modern cyclocross course rules, particularly that sections of the courses will be under 3m in width, and we may use logs as barriers. We will have a deginated pit area.
On site registration only. Registration opens at 1:30 and closes at 2:25PM. Held under USA Cycling non-competitive clinic event permit. USAC license is required, annual or one-day. USAC Non-competitive one day licenses are $5. Promoting club Team Cross. Approved helmets must be worn at all times when on bicycle. We will run these rain or shine, but promoter reserves the right to cancel for severe inclement weather. If in doubt call me at the number below.
Exit I-25 on Rio Bravo and go west about a mile to 2nd. Take 2nd south about 1.6 miles to to Sunnyslope St. then go west (right) to Barr then go south (left) 300ft and park where you can without blocking anyone's driveway. On a bike: take the bosque bike path south past Rio Bravo until just before it curves east following the diversion channel.
Big old school loop, doubletrack, dirt roads, sand, and some ungroomed grass. A fair bit of running. Similar to the Sunislope course used for the NMCX race, but with more grass and more dismounts.
