>>Note that the Sandia Alpine Loop is switched back to 3 laps instead of 4.  We have enough riders and are on as scheduled.

Since it appears that there are almost no non-endurance MTB races in the Albuquerque area this summer I am organizing a very infromal "just for fun" race series.

Note that with this being a small grass roots series, all races are signup dependent. So if we do not get enough signups, I will cancel. It is prefeable if you can sign up a few days early. I will announce if we are on as scheduled, or not, right after 11PM on the day before, or at least by early monring of the race day. I will send an email to the registered riders and post to the race website. If you did not sign up but would still like to come, please just show up, you do not HAVE to sign up pre-race, it just helps me if you do.

General Series Info:
Courses will be makred with ribbons, arrows and occasionally log cairns. Marking should be adequate to allow a rider who does not know the area, but has done the preride, to get around the course without getting lost. If you can do so conveniently, I recommend you preride the course beforehand. You are not paying a $60 entry fee tho. There wiill be no entry fee with a suggested donation of $10. We will try for race durations of 1.5 to 2.5 hrs.

Juan Tomas MTB II,
Albuquerque, NM area 06/21/25  We have enough riders and we are on as scheduled.

Due to the aggressive bird issues at Armijo, we are moving this date to Juan Tomas

Neutral Preride at 8:30AM, start at 9AM.  <<<NOTE NEW TIME>>>

I am going back to the morning start due to the heat at lower elevations.

Parking will be at the second Juan Tomas trailhead after Oak Flats, just before the Oak Flat Road bends left, goes down the hill, and becomes Anaya Rd.  <Placemark>

Course loop on Trailforks note that the start finish location is not correct, we will start by the parking area above.
Registration:
There will be no entry fee, but if you would like to make a voluntary donation of something like $10 for my time, that would be appreciated. Please sign up below if you are coming. There will be a 6 rider minimum by 11PM Friday 6/20. If we don't reach that I will cancel.

Sandia Alpine Loop,
Albuquerque, NM area, 7/27/25

Please try to sign up by Friday night 7/25.  There will be a 6 rider minimum.

Neutral Preride at 1:30PM, start at 2PM.

Course: Hilly loop way up almost at the top of the Sandias. Part of it is kind of east coast like, with some loam and roots. Most of the course is narrow woodsy singletrack. A difficult, but really neat course. It is about 4.3 miles per lap. Course will be marked. We will do a full lap preride, then have a 3 lap "race" group and a 1-2 lap "race" or "ride at your own pace" group. It seems short but it is technical and climby AND at 10,000ft. One lap takes me 32mins or so. If you did this last year the course is a little longer.

New Course map on Trailforks.. You can downlad the GPX from Trailforks.
