![]() ![]() Cycling Clinics I will be teaching some clinics in various cycling disciplines. hese will be skills clinics, helping riders learn basic/intermediate skills to be more comfortable in new cycling situations. We will not talk about much about training, diet, etc. Clinics will generally be in groups of 2, on different weekdays. Riders can benefit from doing both clinics, though some material will be repetitive, the practice will be good. If we have basically the same batch of riders for both clinics we will work on a few more advanced topics on the second clinic. 8 If you are interested please sign up online, if less than 3 riders signed up, clinics will not happen. I got my first real road bike at 16 in the Summer if 86, and 6 weeks later rode it from the East Coast to Kentucky on my own, and did my first race in that fall. I got a MTB a year later and did some cyclocross and MTB races on it in the fall of 87. I have been racing pretty much continuously sice then, on road, cross, and MTB. Even though gravel was not a thing then, I was known ending up riding my road bike on dirt roads a lot, to the point which some of the local writers didn't like to go on rides with me. I raced MTB cat 1 and cat 2 on road and cyclocross. I was never a super gifted cyclists as far as raw speed went. I was ok. Racing with elite level riders without being as fast as them taught me to home and maximize my skills, to go as fast as I could with the motor I had. I think this makes me especially qualified to teach skills clinics. Cycling competitively, or just trying to finish rides that are pushing your abilities, is a game of conserving energy. The purpose of these clinics is to teach other riders how improve at playing that game. ![]() Me in the spring of 1988, Mae Simmons Park, Lubbock, TX, note the vintage NORBA sticker ![]() Me, Fiesta Cross, 2024 |
