Go left, which will come to a stoplight and become NM14 north. The speed limit around the stoplight is 30mph and it is a popular radar trap area. Continue on north 14 about 5.5mi to NM536. (The Crest Road)Go left and up another ~6mi to the course. Capulin Picnic Area is a little over a mile past the Sandia Peak Ski Area on NM 536 heading up towards Sandia Peak. Google Maps Placemark Parking is limited. Please do your best to carpool. Pay your $3 parking fee. It is a $50 ticket if a ranger tickets you. Course is hilly and sits at about 8800ft. The course will go down a paved switchback descent, partway back up the pavement and then up a some old stairs through the picnic area. About half woodlsy dirt singletrack and half pavement. They have done some clearing so the course may be a little smaller than last year, depending on how much time I have for coursework. Some of the uphills are steep so I would recommend about a 1 to 1 low gear if you climb in small gears like me. Everyone will start together and ride for about an hour. Lapped riders finish on the on the same lap as the leader. Kids Race: if we get some younger riders who would like to come out, we will accommodate them with a shorter course and shorter race duration. If you have kids who would like to race please have them sign up and we can assess how many we have. Entry: No entry fee. Suggested donation of $20. Cash preferred, but you can pay online or I have a card reader. Juniors free. We may have some small prizes for the top mens and womens riders. Prizes: We may have some small prizes for the top mens and womens finishers, possibly also juniors if we get a good number of them.
