Waterfall Informal Cyclocross 1PM preride, 1:30PM start Saturday, January 26, 2024 Corrales, NM 30% of the proceeds of the Old Fashioned CX Series will be donated to Feline Friends Cat Shelter* Remember the first rule of CX in New Mexico, here conveniently placed in large letters: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FRESH SEALANT IN YOUR TIRES!!!! A good test is to hold the wheel near your ear and shake it. If you hear clear, sloshy-sloshy liquid noises you are probably OK. If you don't, your sealant may be dry. Sometimes in our dry climate it dries out in 2-3 weeks. I saw some online ad suggesting you refill every six months. Folderol. Not here. Course: A big beautiful course with a mix of everything, a little pavement, grass, dirt, sand, and a long stair runup. A fair bit of running. Near the only waterfall on the Rio Grande in the Albuquerque area. Format: There is no reason to show up early to warm up, as we will do 2 full neutral laps starting at 1PM. I am guessing a practice lap will be about 15 mins. Marking will be a little more discreet and minimal, as this is just a not a permitted event; thus 2 practice laps. Practice laps are not mandatory but at least one is recommended. No kids race for this one. Directions: From 528 and 448 (the north end of Corrales Rd. go east about .75mi to where the road starts to curve south to Corrales. There will be a dirt road on your left, take it about a mile to the end and park. Start/Finish will be in the grass park. Google Placemark. Online Registration: We will use Google Forms for registration. It does not cost anything to preregister. You can donate online or at the race via cash, check or card. There will be a 10 rider minimum by 11:59PM Friday 1/24. Online Registration List of Registered Riders Weather We will run these rain or shine, but promoter reserves the right to cancel or move the course in the event of severe inclement weather or other issues. If weather looks dodgy, check the BCD Racing Facebook as I can update it from my phone. General Info: USAC licenses, annual or one day, are not required. Not a USAC race. Helmets are required. We will run under USAC cyclocross rules, except that you can feed anywhere, anytime, and the course will not meet USAC specs. Lapped riders finish on the on the same lap as the leader. Bikes: You can ride any bike and any tire width you wish, as long as the only motor is you. Not part of the NMCX Cup Series. Feline
Freinds Cat Sanctuary
works to TNR (trap/neuter/release), feed, provide veterinary care,
rehabilitate, and provide a permanent safe space for feral and
community cats in underserved areas of New Mexico. They also help
vulnerable cats such as kittens, the elderly and those with illnesses
or special needs. They are a 100% volunteer mission to alleviate the
suffering of felines in our communities. We also have a few adoptable
cats if you might be interested in a furry friend. |
