Classic Dirt Series - Ponderosa Circuit 2,
Albuquerque, NM, Oak Flat Area 7/6/24

Neutral Preride 10AM, start at 10:30AM

Classic Dirt Series Format:
The Bosque MTB will be part of the Classic Dirt Series, which will be kind of like the NMES or the Dusty Roadrunner, just informal rides with no entry fees. Aside from that, they willl be normal cross country MTB races, more or less on the UCI XCO model, perhaps a bit more old school. Different courses will require different levels of marking. Shorter courses will have a preride lap, and enough marking to get you around the course, if you do the prepride. Longer courses may be GPS only. Each race will be a little different. We will provide a GPS track for all races.

Course marking for this specific race:
Course marking will be less than a normal race, with more in the more potentially confusing areas, but should be adequate to let you find your way around, if you do the preride lap. The preride lap is strongly recommended.
It is a good idea to have a GPS track on your bike as a backup in case you forget an intersection.

If you can do so conveniently, I recommend you preride the course. I will make a reasonable effort to mark out the course, but it will be the rider's responsibility to know the course. You are not paying a $60 entry fee tho.

If we get a small turnout (like less than 10 riders) we may do a little less marking and depend more on the preride and GPS.

We will have a 4 Lap group (about 13 mi) for less experienced riders, and a 7 lap (about 23mi) group for more experienced riders.

Course: Circuit will start on Mahogany and drop into the new Ponderosa Loop trail, which is a flast flowy downhill through the Pinon and Ponderosa Trees. Then comes will do a little loop in the Juan Tomas area with a short rocky climb.  Then we will go over to Ponderosa going roughly north us a gentle climb, then down a little bit, to Mahogany  which rolls back south to the finish. Course is 3.3 miles.  Beautiful fast fun woodsy singletrack, always rolling up or down, but without any really big climbs.  Mostly smooth with just a few rock gardens.

Registration:
There will be no entry fee, but if you would like to make a voluntary donation of something like $10 for my time, that would be appreciated. Please sign up below if you are coming.  Note that there will be an 8 rider minumum signup for this race by 11PM Friday 8/9. Fewer than that, we will cancel. I will post here and on FB if we are on or not.
